Vanessa Kachadurian Armenia policy for economic development and job creation



YEREVAN. - The policy aimed at Armenia’s economic development and job creation will continue, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan stated at the meeting with delegation of “Haniel Group” Company on Wednesday.
The Armenian leader welcomed the activities of Haniel Group in Armenia, adding he attended the opening ceremony of a new garment factory of the company in Amasia several days ago. Serzh Sargsyan noted he attaches high importance to implementation of investment programs in Armenia’s capital and regions, the presidential press service reports.
President Sargsyan stressed significant work has been done towards the promotion of business environment and investments within the framework of public policy.
Both sides called the investments in Armenia’s textile industry promising and gave importance to trainings of the professional staff.
The company representatives expressed gratitude to the Armenian President for his assistance in carrying out program in Armenia. They emphasized the company sees a strong foundation for Armenia’s progress and cooperation, which provides a good opportunity to develop and implement long-term development programs.

Vanessa Kachadurian-Gorbachev Organization Green Cross Int'l to support alternative energy in Armenia

A solar power generator plant in Spitak, Armenia, will get financial help from Green Cross International, an organization founded by former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
So far the project has attracted $8 million in investments. The plant will produce up to 1,000 units with capacities that range between 3 and 32 kilowatt. The latter can supply electricity to a household.
Vahagn Hameazaspanyan, head of the solar power plant program, said the plant will give Armenia an economic boost since there is huge demand for this type of equipment.
He criticized the government for not helping Armenia’s solar power sector, despite recently approving an energy security plan.

YEREVAN, July 28- The first meeting of the Council on the development of small and medium businesses was held on Wednesday in Yerevan under the chairmanship of the head of Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sarkisian.
According to the First Deputy Economy Minister Karine Minasyan, the initiative to establish the Council was made by the small and medium business representatives who have expressed a desire to create a platform to discuss the issues of concern and to find solutions to the existing problems.
“The Prime Minister accepted the proposal and the Council was formed,” Minasian noted.
As Minasian noted, the new structure has several features.The Prime Minister, the Ministry of Economy, business representatives and donors who have offered their assistance to solve problems are all represented in the Council.
EBRD and the OSCE will provide the secretariat of the Council with the specialists dealing specifically with the problems that the business community will present, noted the Deputy Minister of Economy.
According to her, the secretariat itself will be responsible for the issues presented during the meeting.
